Case Study: Our work with CW Sellors
One of the things we enjoy most about our work at Kudos Giftwrap is the opportunity to help customers resolve a diverse range of online retail packaging challenges. A memorable recent example is the project we undertook for CW Sellors – an independent family-run jewellers specialising in luxury watches and designer jewellery.
Premium brands they work with include Faberge, Swarovski, and TAG Heuer, and since 1979 the business has established itself as a local market leader in the East Midlands, with 11 shops operating under three brand names – including a flagship store in the National Gemstone & Jewellery Design Centre in Carsington, Derbyshire.
Like most traditional shop-based retailers, the pandemic hit CW Sellors hard. With physical stores closed, the business invested heavily in the e-commerce side of their business in 2020-22. Post pandemic, the company is keen to strengthen its market share of a competitive sector for online jewellery sales, and as part of their expansion into the Christmas and birthday gift market, solicited our help to produce a complete new set of bespoke mailing packaging for their online orders.
Our customer’s aim was to create e-commerce packaging that would complement the packaging used in store, to encourage a consistent brand identity between online and off-line sales modalities. As part of their commitment to sustainability, the packaging needed to be fully recyclable and produced from eco-friendly and sustainably sourced materials.
Creating bespoke boxes for jewellery products is one of our areas of expertise at Kudos. Our studio took the customer’s existing in-store packaging as a base, and translated a simple draft design that could be reproduced economically in single colour print onto their e-commerce boxes.
We then shared these visuals with the customer before converting the artwork into a print friendly format compatible with a range of print substrates and printing methodologies.
Rapid order fulfilment
To make reorders more convenient and responsive for the customer, we store the dies and print origination files in a customer portal for fast and convenient regular orders.
As online business is currently thriving for CW Sellors and in-house storage at their head office is limited, we also offered an on demand short term stockholding solution for surplus stock whenever required.
Over the course of the project, our team created five types of Ecommerce boxesto provide an immersive unboxing experience for CW Sellors’s online customers and create a distinctive brand identity that encourages business individuation.
Our customer was delighted with the outcome of the project and the value added to their online retail operation through our eye-catching designs and delivery support. Our packaging solutions have helped enable CW Sellors to expand their online retail volume while still operating from their current head office and warehouse – saving them the cost of moving to a larger facility. Every online delivery from CW Sellors now goes out in personalised branded box, growing the brand and increasing recognition among their target buyers.
